It's going to be a long week. Yesterday was a large orientation class that took all day to prepare for, do and process paperwork for. Today, I dealt with employee death benefits from 8am to noon. Then, had a boring meeting about health insurance renewals all afternoon.
Also, for those of you that have benefits that require beneficiary information. Please please please keep this information up to date. It's really difficult to have to tell your family that you never changed your benefits and your ex-significant other is going to get your benefits rather than your kids.

Getting Dressed In The Dark
In our bedroom, we have a small walk-in closet that has a light fixture with a pull-chain. Well, it had a pull-chain until the renters who lived here before us ripped it out of the fixture.
Matthew tried to replace the chain but found there was nothing to attach the new chain to...wonder if the Incredible Hulk used to live here... So, now we are looking for a new fixture for our closet even though Matthew is somewhat unsure of working with electricity.
What sort of fixture should we get? How about a regular ceiling fixture or a chandelier? A chandelier in the closet wouldn't be crazy, would it? hehehe

What a weird week!
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone.
I'm glad this past week is over. It was a weird one. We had an employee pass away, an employee who is becoming very weak from terminal cancer, a retiree who passed away 4 1/2 years ago for whom we were still paying insurance premiums, a benefits provider that has gone into receivership on top of all the day to day craziness you can get in HR. I was thankful to see this week end!
Today, I'm working on a 7-course French meal for Matthew and I. We normally don't celebrate Valentine's Day but I felt like cooking something elaborate and special and it was as good a day as any. Hopefully, there will be pics and recipes posted on that later.

First Snow of 2009
January 20, 2009 brought the first snow we've seen here in Stella, NC. This was the view from our front porch that afternoon.
